More than two hundred human skeletons were found on the outskirts of the prison grounds. The prison’s warden, claiming a lack of funds, had begun to hire his own prisoners as guards, leading to an even more violent and lawless environment. The prisoners-cum-guards otherwise known as ‘trusties’ would often extort other inmates and those who didn’t pay-up ran the risk of finding themselves in an unmarked grave. <br />
