Wasco, Oregon, February 1984: A clothing store in Rajneeshpuram with garments in shades of red. The disciples of Bhagwan Rajneesh always wore various shades of red, which according to this religion was the color of life, the sun, of birth and regeneration. Rajneeshpuram, was an intentional community in Wasco County, Oregon, briefly incorporated as a city in the 1980s, which was populated with followers of the spiritual teacher Osho, then known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. The community was developed by turning a ranch from an empty rural property into a city complete with typical urban infrastructure, with population of about 7000 followers.
