Wasco, Oregon, February 1984: Disciples of Bhagwan Rajneesh working on a construction of a hotel where visitors could stay. Since Rajneeshpuram was established, around 60,000 visitors came every year to take part in the community celebrations. Rajneeshpuram, was an intentional community in Wasco County, Oregon, briefly incorporated as a city in the 1980s, which was populated with followers of the spiritual teacher Osho, then known as Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh. The community was developed by turning a ranch from an empty rural property into a city complete with typical urban infrastructure, with population of about 7000 followers.
