Poland, September, 1981 - Butcher shop in Warsaw. Food coupons issued monthly by the government allow people to buy a certain amount of meat, but because of shortages people often waited on line for 2-4 hours, only to find the shop had run out and their coupons were useless. Employees were required to remain in the store while it was open, even if there was nothing left to sell.
